Hi friends! My computer sits by the window (I accidentally typed winder just now, oh my) where I am looking out to a cloudy gray sky and it's raining! I love rain, it's my favorite. I could easily live in Seattle and never get depressed--I would probably go in the opposite direction and be incredibly enthused. Doesn't rain just make you want to grab a cup of coffee and cozy down with a book?
Speaking of books, does anyone have any good book recommendations? I am horrible at finding books, especially in Midland, but I enjoy reading good ones. My favorites are mysteries and thrillers, but I also enjoy a good non-raunchy love story. So let me know please!! (Not that I have much extra time for reading).
We recently were in Ft. Davis over the Labor day holiday with my parents. Getting away for the long weekend was exactly what we needed. Mom and Dad rented a couple rooms in a newish bed & breakfast. It was lovely. I really do enjoy b & b's because they are usually made out of old houses with tons of character that are so much fun to explore. This one wasn't quite as character-filled as most because they just finished updating and remodeling it, but we enjoyed it just the same. One of the two mornings we were there the owner made some y-u-m-m-y cinnamon rolls-MMM. The first night we were in Ft. Davis we drove up to the McDonald observatory to attend a Star-Gazing Party. We got to look in telescopes at some star clusters, the moon, and Jupiter! It was really interesting--and cold! The next day we drove to Alpine and spent the afternoon at the small shops there and then drove over to Marfa for their annual festival. They had lots of booths with art and jewelry. Apparently Marfa is now known for their art, weird, weird art. Kinda weird. Check out the Chinati Museum sometime if you go there. That evening we went to see the Marfa lights! They are crazy!! No one has been able to explain them but they look like a cell phone tower with a white or red light flashing on top. They come and go, dim and get brighter, and are just too strange for words-go see them.
Well we are finally learning OB in school! I love it. We watched an hour-and-a-half long dvd today about fetal development which showed lots of 4D images which was awesome! I thought I knew this was the field for me but now it is even more evident!
So I realized I don't post much about Mr. Tim Hird so I will be trying to incorporate him more! I keep trying to get him to write his own post on here but he hasn't so far. Let's see, he continues to work at Watco rigging up big semi's and preparing them to go to the oil fields to haul and move stuff. They just changed their hours so he now has to work 7:30-5ish. He is on the couch right now enjoying some much needed down time while watching TV.
Well I think I am ready to get to bed so I don't hate life in the morning.
As always I am thankful for 3-day weekends, relaxing trips, and having a peace of mind knowing that I am exactly where the Lord wants me to be.
Goodnight!
