Hi!
So I thought I would use the generic excuse of "I've been so busy being a mother that I haven't had time to blog!" However, that's totally untrue. Yes, being a wife/mother/housekeeper/chef/zookeeper keeps me pretty busy, but truth is: it's more fun playing with my squealing, smiling, shiny new toy than dreaming up these funny phrases. However, on the eighth day God created nap time, so here I sit. Here's a picture update on my toy.
1 month
Sleep habits: sleeping in the swing due to reflux (and who wants to sleep on a cold, flat, unmoving mattress rather than on a cuddly swing?) Still sleeping in our room for 1-1/2 - 3 hours at a time.
Eating habits: little snacker. Eating about every 1-1/2 - 3 hours.
2 months
Sleeping: no naps please. She doesn't like napping during the day due to reflux. However, this sure helped her figure out sleeping at night! Bedtime is anywhere from 9 p.m. - midnight, wakes to eat at 4-5, back to sleep until 7 a.m. - 9 a.m. Still sleeping in the swing.
Eating: still likes snacking. Eating every 2-3 hours except at night.
Learning to hold her head up and swat at toys. Smiling all the time
3 months
Sleeping: Still sleeping in the swing. Thanks to reflux medications naps have improved. She usually naps 1-2 hours in the morning 1-2 in the afternoon and sometimes a short early evening nap around 5 p.m. - 6 p.m. Bedtime is between 8-11 and wakes up around 6 a.m. - 8 a.m.
Eating: every 2-4 hours except at night.
Learning to roll around a bit. She grabs at toys and tries to stick them in her mouth.
4 months
Sleeping: transitioning from swing to crib. If she sleeps in the swing, it's turned off. Bedtime is between 8-10:30ish and wakes up between 8-10 (that's 12 hours!!) Napping usually 2 hours in the morning and 1-1/2 hours in the afternoon.
Eating: starting solids! Weened off the reflux meds and started putting baby oatmeal in her bottle instead. Eating every 3-4 hours during the day. She also started trying some oatmeal and rice cereal . . . she's not sure what she thinks about it yet.
Learning balance and rolling over. She's mastered the stomach-to-back but has only rolled from back-to-front a couple of times. She doesn't like being on her stomach--she likes to see everyone!
5 months
Sleeping: sleeping in her crib for 12-13 hours at night. Bedtime is still pretty late between 7:30-10. Napping 2 hours in the morning at 45mins-2hours in the afternoon.
Eating: Loving the solid food. Her favorites are carrots, sweet peas and squash. She tried several other things but prefers the veggies over fruits, for now! (Just like her mother :-) Eating every 3-4 hours and solids before bath time.
Learning: sitting up now! Still doesn't really like being on her stomach much. Loves to pet Major and Jinx. Likes hearing her voice. She smiles at everyone and enjoys being entertained and entertaining others.
There you go. I can't believe she'll be 6 months in a week! This is the best job ever.
Katherine
